Fathers Day out: A Father in Indian Cinema.

For most love stories of the world you need a bare minimum a boy and a girl.
But for Indian love Stories, you need parents to make it a great love story.

Indian Movies on Love Stories always had a father to resist.

The Greatest of all is the great great Indian epic Mughal-E-Azam.
The father falsely kills the girl to make is son a Great warrior.

Devdas (made 10 times before Dev D) , the boys father disallows marriage and son dies of sorrow.

Pakeeza, again boys father denies, Umrao Jaan 1st boys father also denies.

Barsaat(1947), girl is forcefully married to a fisherman rather.

There is a chain of movies where parents are either "लाचार" or Villain or engaged
in crime ( as cop or as a decoit ),

You never had a "normal" Parents in great Love stories.

But now in 2013-15, Indian father is getting all accolades for a good love stories,
where children fall in love , but don't rebel and father rules the roost.

The Era of Earlier father started with the Great "Mughal E Azam".
The Era of Latest father started with the Great "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge".

But then suddenly Love Story stopped altogether.
Action came, soft porn and sleaze came in 90s.

Now Love Stories have starting dishing out again in 2013. and this year we got:
2 States : Ronit Roy played a bad husband/great father to its best
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya : Ashutosh Rana Hits Back Big Screen with a bang. A father who sets a challenge to win.
Hoping more to come.
